Imran Khan’s Sisters Detained Briefly Near Adiala Jail, Later Released by Police

Rawalpindi:Police briefly detained **Aliya Khan** and **Noreen Niazi**, sisters of **PTI founder Imran Khan**, near **Adiala Jail** at **Dahgal checkpoint** on Tuesday. They were taken into custody for staging a protest after being denied permission to meet their brother and were released shortly after at the **Chakri Interchange**.

According to police sources, **nine PTI workers** who were detained along with Khan’s sisters were also released without charges.

Aliya Khan and Noreen Niazi had set up a **sit-in protest** at Dahgal checkpoint after being stopped **2 kilometers away from Adiala Jail**, demanding to see Imran Khan. Prior to being detained, police had requested them to return peacefully, which they declined.

Speaking to media before her detention, **Aliya Khan** criticized the government’s actions, stating,

> “The so-called open trial is being conducted behind closed doors. They don’t want to give Imran Khan any legal relief, because if they do, they’ll have to release everyone.”

She added,

> “The current government is gripped by fear. We came here only to meet our brother, but were unjustly stopped far from the jail.”

The incident highlights continued tensions between PTI supporters and authorities, as the party continues to protest alleged legal injustices and restrictions on access to its incarcerated leader.
