Rahul Gandhi and Several Opposition Leaders Arrested in New Delhi Amid Electoral Fraud Protest

New Delhi: Indian opposition leader and Indian National Congress (INC) member Rahul Gandhi was detained by Delhi Police during a protest march against alleged electoral fraud.
According to Indian media reports, the incident occurred when a delegation of opposition parties, led by Rahul Gandhi, was marching toward the Election Commission to protest alleged electoral malpractice. During the protest, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, and several other opposition leaders were also arrested.
Speaking to the media, Rahul Gandhi said, “As we reached the Election Commission, members of the INDIA alliance were stopped and detained.” He added, “The theft of votes has now been exposed to the entire nation.”
Rahul Gandhi emphasized that this was not a political battle but a fight to protect democracy. “The Indian Constitution guarantees one person, one vote, and we will ensure the protection of a transparent voter list and the democratic rights of the people at all costs,” he asserted.

Just two days earlier, Rahul Gandhi had accused the Indian Election Commission and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of vote theft during the general elections. He alleged that duplicate voter IDs were created, fake addresses were registered, and in some constituencies, fake images were used. Gandhi claimed that at least 100 seats were manipulated during the elections and that if these irregularities hadn’t occurred, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would not have been in power today. He further accused the Election Commission of betraying the Constitution, vowing to take strong legal and political action against the alleged fraud.
