India Legends to Face Pakistan in Semifinal After Stunning Victory Over West Indies in Legends Championship

In a dramatic twist at the World Legends Championship, the Indian Legends team, which had previously refused to play against Pakistan in the group stage, is now set to face the Green Shirts in the tournament’s semifinals.

On Tuesday, India Champions secured their place in the semifinals by defeating West Indies Champions in a crucial match. West Indies batted first and posted a target of 145 runs in 20 overs. The key for India was to chase down this target within 14.1 overs to qualify for the semifinals on the basis of a superior run rate.

India managed to achieve this target in just 13.2 overs with the help of a brilliant half-century by Stuart Binny. India reached 146/5, making them the fourth and final team to qualify for the semifinals.

Earlier on Tuesday, Pakistan Champions had delivered a dominant performance, beating Australia Champions by 10 wickets and securing the top spot on the points table. South Africa and Australia had already qualified for the semifinals.

With India’s victory, the semifinal line-up is now complete. The first semifinal will see top-ranked Pakistan take on fourth-placed India on July 31, while the second semifinal will feature South Africa against Australia on the same day.

It is worth noting that Pakistan and India’s group stage encounter was controversially cancelled earlier in the tournament. Indian players had refused to play against Pakistan, with key players like Shikhar Dhawan, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, and Harbhajan Singh opposing the match. The organizers expressed regret over the cancellation of the match but could not prevent the decision.

Now, as the semifinals approach, all eyes are on whether the Indian Legends team will take the field against Pakistan or once again refuse to play, leaving the fate of the contest uncertain.
