Hamad Azhar Clarifies Rumors of Joining PML-N Amid NA-129 By-election Speculations

Lahore: Recently, rumors had been circulating that PTI was set to field Hamad Azhar in the upcoming by-election for NA-129 in Lahore. There were also claims suggesting that Hamad Azhar might receive a ticket from PML-N, with speculations hinting that the ruling party could nominate him as their candidate. However, Hamad Azhar has now come forward to clear the air regarding these rumors.
In a tweet, Hamad Azhar shared a picture with Imran Khan and his father, writing, “I wish I could meet Khan Sahib today and embrace him to ease my pain.”
Abu Zarr Salman Niazi clarified that the rumors of Hamad Azhar joining PML-N or any other party are entirely false and mere propaganda. He added, “I am with him, and he has clearly stated that he will stand with Imran Khan till his last breath.” Hamad Azhar retweeted this message, endorsing it publicly.

Earlier, journalist Umar Daraz Gondal had claimed that Hamad Azhar currently holds two tickets. Following his father’s death, Hamad Azhar is expected to contest the NA-129 by-election. In the 2024 elections, Hamad Azhar’s father, Mian Azhar, had contested the election to retain the seat for his son and won. The Azhar family has long-standing ties with the Sharif family, which is why the PML-N government refrained from taking any action against Hamad Azhar despite numerous legal challenges.
Meanwhile, according to Sama TV, PTI has decided to field Hamad Azhar for the NA-129 by-election. The party has also stated that in case of any legal complications, a candidate from Hamad Azhar’s family will be put forward. On the other hand, PML-N figures like Mian Noman, Rana Mashhood, and Mehr Ishtiaq have already begun lobbying for the party’s ticket. The ruling party is also considering fielding a prominent figure for the election. Both parties are expected to make their final announcements after the Election Commission of Pakistan issues the schedule.
In another tweet, Hamad Azhar shared a nostalgic photo with his late father, Mian Azhar, and Imran Khan, stating, “I have learned so much from these two humble individuals and have been under their nurturing care. One was my father, who passed away, and the other is Imran Khan, who has been unjustly imprisoned for the past two years. I wish I could meet Khan Sahib today and embrace him to ease my pain.”
