Quetta:The Chief Secretary of Balochistan, Shakeel Qadir Khan, met with Managing Director of Green Tourism, Hassan Azhar Hayat, to discuss the promotion of tourism in the province and the potential of Balochistan’s scenic and historic sites. During the meeting, the Chief Secretary highlighted the need to fully showcase the province’s rich history and beautiful landscapes to attract more tourists.

He emphasized that Balochistan is home to several breathtaking historical and natural sites, which have the potential to attract global attention. The provincial government is taking proactive measures to promote tourism, with revolutionary reforms in the tourism sector. New tourist destinations are being developed to cater to both local and international visitors.

The Chief Secretary also pointed out that Balochistan’s extensive coastline and beautiful beaches are of significant interest to tourists worldwide, along with its historical sites that need to be brought to the global stage. He expressed confidence that with government efforts, these sites will not only boost tourism but also contribute to the province’s economy.

Hassan Azhar Hayat, on the other hand, noted that various government agencies and institutions have already taken numerous steps to promote tourism in Pakistan. These initiatives aim to increase the number of both local and international tourists, provide world-class facilities, and highlight the value of the country’s tourist destinations. In particular, efforts are being made to improve infrastructure such as roads, hotels, camping sites, and restaurants to make tourist spots more accessible.

For example, the establishment of world-class hotels under the banner of *Green Tourism Pakistan* is a significant step in this direction. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, modern “Camp Villages” have been introduced, providing tourists with new and eco-friendly accommodation options, which have also positively impacted the local economy.

In line with these projects, local youth will be trained and provided with job opportunities in the tourism industry, leading to a boost in the regional economy. The focus on sustainability and eco-friendly measures is expected to improve the overall tourism landscape in Balochistan.

The Chief Secretary reiterated the importance of ensuring security, providing modern amenities at tourist spots, and focusing on professional tourism development that meets international standards. He further stated that government attention, policy reforms, and enhanced global perception of Pakistan will significantly benefit the tourism sector.

He emphasized that tourism is crucial for economic development, as it generates foreign exchange and creates employment opportunities. Moreover, religious tourism holds great potential, with the Hinglaj Mata Temple being an ancient and spiritual site for the Hindu community in Pakistan and Balochistan. Every year, millions of pilgrims from around the world visit this temple. Given its religious, cultural, and touristic significance, the Balochistan government has decided to elevate it to an international tourist destination, which will not only promote religious tourism but also enhance the province’s global image.

Blue Tourism, which focuses on the environmental health of coastal ecosystems and provides unique marine experiences, is also being promoted as a modern and sustainable alternative to traditional mass tourism.

The meeting concluded with an agreement that a robust tourism sector will not only generate revenue and foreign exchange but will also help stimulate the economy. New opportunities will emerge, and sustainable livelihoods will be established. To promote tourism at the provincial level, it is crucial to have a collective effort at the national level, involving all provinces.
