Javed Hashmi Recalls an Incident of Conflict with Nawaz Sharif Over Waiting Time

Multan: Senior politician Javed Hashmi recently shared a past experience during a podcast with journalist Irshad Bhatti, recalling a time when Nawaz Sharif, the former Prime Minister, had expressed displeasure over waiting for an hour.
Hashmi revealed that Sharif had once complained about waiting for him, to which Hashmi humorously responded, “If I did make you wait, I don’t remember it.” He continued, “You are the Prime Minister, and I am your minister. Allah has given you a position. You should look at us with a smile, and it helps us get through the night.”
During the conversation, Hashmi also mentioned an occasion when prominent journalists Mujeeb ur Rehman Shami and Hafeezullah Niazi visited him at home. Hashmi was in his bedroom at the time, so he instructed his staff to send the guests to the bedroom. “We were only talking about home matters, so we let them stay there,” Hashmi explained. As the guests were about to leave, Shami reminded him that they had even brought Nawaz Sharif along, but Hashmi had not noticed.
Reflecting on his relationship with Sharif, Hashmi stated that the former Prime Minister had often plotted against him, despite his considerable influence in Lahore at the time. He said, “They thought if I was in the cabinet, even without speaking, my presence mattered. They were always looking for ways to remove me, and I continued on silently because, as a political worker, I had no other choice.”
Hashmi’s remarks shed light on the intricate political dynamics and his long-standing relationship with Nawaz Sharif.
