Israeli War Sabotaged Diplomacy, Says Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi

Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that Israel’s ongoing war has sabotaged diplomatic efforts in the region, but added that the United States still has an opportunity to restart diplomacy.

In an article published in a British journal, Araghchi wrote that Israeli strikes during negotiations proved Israel prefers conflict over peace. He also accused the U.S. of violating international law and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) through its attacks on Iran.

“While Iran has received messages from the U.S. expressing interest in resuming talks, how can we trust Washington again?” Araghchi questioned, adding that Iran still remains committed to diplomacy.

He stressed that if the United States genuinely seeks a peaceful resolution, it must enable an agreement based on equality.

On Tuesday, Araghchi met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan in Mecca, where they discussed regional developments and bilateral relations amid growing tensions in the Middle East.
