Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif Leaves for Azerbaijan to Attend ECO Summit

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has departed for Azerbaijan to participate in the 17th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit, which will be held on July 3rd and 4th in Khankendi. During this two-day visit, he will lead the Pakistani delegation and deliver a speech at the opening ceremony, reiterating Pakistan’s stance on regional peace, economic cooperation, and a joint strategy to combat terrorism.
In addition to the summit, the Prime Minister’s agenda includes bilateral meetings with leaders of other ECO member states. These discussions are expected to focus on areas of mutual interest, including trade, energy, infrastructure, and security cooperation.
The Pakistani government emphasized that this forum, under the umbrella of the ECO, plays a key role in strengthening international ties in the region and achieving the collective goals of economic development.
The purpose of this visit is to keep Pakistan’s foreign policy dynamic and to strengthen bilateral relations with all ECO member countries, particularly Azerbaijan, in order to pave the way for lasting peace and economic self-sufficiency based on shared interests.
Accompanying Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on this visit are Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.
