Rangers Arrest Terrorist Involved in Organizing Militant Cell in Karachi

Karachi:Security forces have arrested a terrorist involved in organizing a militant group for terrorist activities in Karachi, according to a spokesperson for the Rangers.

The spokesperson said that Rangers and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted a joint intelligence-based operation in the SITE area, during which a wanted suspect identified as Noor Alam alias “Wafadar” was apprehended. Weapons and explosive materials were also recovered from his possession.

According to officials, the arrested suspect is associated with a banned militant network and had joined the group in 2014 under the leadership of a commander identified as Mufti Noor Wali.

Security officials further stated that the suspect was involved in multiple attacks on security forces’ checkpoints in South Waziristan.

During initial interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to participating in an attack on a Levies checkpoint in 2021, in which six personnel were abducted, while two of his accomplices were killed in retaliatory action.

He also reportedly admitted to planting multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along security forces’ routes in South Waziristan.

The spokesperson added that the suspect, originally from South Waziristan, had been hiding in Karachi for some time and was attempting to reorganize a group for terrorist activities in the city.
