Efforts to Streamline Student Enrollment for BISP Scholarships Praised by Balochistan Education Minister

Quetta: Balochistan’s Minister for Education, Ms. Raheela Durrani, has emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Federal Ombudsman, the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), and the Balochistan Education Department to ensure the efficient registration of students for educational scholarships. During a meeting with the Regional Head of the Federal Ombudsman, she expressed her full commitment to facilitating this process.

Minister Durrani assured the delegation that concrete and effective measures will be taken to simplify and ensure student registration under BISP-supported initiatives. She announced the appointment of dedicated male and female focal persons in her office who will liaise with the Federal Ombudsman and BISP offices. These focal persons will be responsible for monitoring the progress of the registration process and will provide timely updates, enabling swift decision-making and intervention when required.

She praised the initiatives undertaken by the Federal Ombudsman and described them as a positive step for the province. The minister also affirmed that the Education Department will work under a clearly defined written protocol to ensure coordinated action between the involved parties.

Furthermore, the Education Minister underscored the need for a joint meeting between the Federal Ombudsman Quetta Secretariat and the Director General of BISP, which she said would be arranged in the near future. The purpose of this meeting would be to formulate a more detailed action plan to improve the effectiveness and outreach of the scholarship program.

Earlier, the Regional Head of the Federal Ombudsman, Ghulam Sarwar Brohi, presented the Education Minister with the 2024 Annual Report of the Ombudsman’s Secretariat. The delegation also included IRD Commissioner Sarwar Javed and Investigation Officer Ahmed Waqas Kashi.

Ms. Raheela Durrani warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed her gratitude for their visit, reaffirming her office’s readiness to support and strengthen initiatives aimed at promoting educational opportunities for the underprivileged youth of Balochistan.
