CTD Operation in Peshawar Leads to Death of Alleged Suicide Bomber and Handler

Peshawar: In a significant operation by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in the suburban area of Armar Shamshatoo, Peshawar, an alleged suicide bomber and his handler were killed.

According to the CTD spokesperson, the operation, based on intelligence inputs, targeted a suspected suicide bomber, Munir Ahmed, and his handler, who were planning a major attack on a sensitive installation. Munir Ahmed, a resident of Nangarhar province in Afghanistan, was killed during the raid along with his handler.

The CTD further revealed that the suspected terrorist, Munir Ahmed, had been under surveillance since November 2024. He had entered Pakistan from Khost, Afghanistan, and was associated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The department added that Munir Ahmed was an absconding criminal wanted in multiple terrorism-related cases.

During the operation, the CTD recovered a suicide jacket, an SMG, ammunition, and a pistol from the deceased terrorists. A case has been registered, and a special investigative team has been formed to further probe the incident. The CTD confirmed that the handler’s identity is still being verified.
