Senior Lawyer Shamsul Islam Killed in Karachi’s Defence; Son Injured in Shooting Incident

Karachi: A shooting incident occurred in the upscale area of Defence Phase 6, resulting in the death of senior lawyer Shamsul Islam and injuries to his son, Daniyal. According to police, the incident took place when Shamsul Islam arrived at the Quran Academy mosque in Defence to attend the funeral prayer of a well-known businessman, Mazmal Parcha.
Eyewitnesses reported that the shooting occurred outside the mosque. The assailant, who was wearing a shalwar kameez and a face mask, was present at the scene. As soon as Shamsul Islam exited the mosque, the attacker opened fire. The lawyer was critically injured by the gunshots and was rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
Police confirmed that Shamsul Islam’s son, Daniyal, was also injured in the shooting and is currently receiving medical treatment. Law enforcement agencies are investigating the incident, and evidence from the crime scene is being collected.
Sources reveal that Shamsul Islam had previously been targeted in a similar attack in November 2024 in Defence, although he survived that attempt.
