Elon Musk Warns of Global Population Decline, Calls It Humanity’s Greatest Threat

San Francisco:Elon Musk**, the billionaire founder of **SpaceX** and **Tesla**, who frequently shares his views on global issues, has once again expressed concern over the decreasing birth rate, calling it the most significant threat facing humanity. In a recent response to a post on **X** (formerly Twitter) on June 26, Musk discussed his long-standing concerns about the global population decline.

This isn’t the first time Musk has raised alarms about the world’s declining birth rate. In 2017, he tweeted that the world’s population was “rapidly shrinking,” but few seemed to care about it. In 2021, he reiterated that a decline in population was the greatest threat to future civilization.

On June 26, responding to a post, Musk said, *“We need more people. The birth rate needs to go up, and every couple should have at least three children. Otherwise, we will see a collapse of civilization.”* He further pointed out that the decline in birth rates was a major factor in the fall of ancient civilizations, like the Roman Empire, a trend often overlooked by historians.

Musk’s comments reflect his deep concern about global demographics. In 2022, when discussing his personal family life, he stated, *“I’m doing my best to address the population decline crisis. I want to have as many children as I can and be a good father.”* Musk, according to media reports, has fathered 14 children in total.

His children include six with his first wife **Justine Musk**, of whom one tragically passed away while the others are alive. With Canadian singer **Grimes**, Musk has three children. Additionally, he has four children with **Shivon Zilis**, an executive at his company **Neuralink**. In February 2025, a woman named **Ashley Claire** claimed to have given birth to Musk’s child, further adding to his growing family.

Musk’s advocacy for a higher birth rate is part of a broader discourse on demographic challenges, and he has been vocal about the potential societal implications of an aging population and declining birth rates globally.
