UK Rejects US Request for Naval Support to Open Strait of Hormuz

London: The United Kingdom has declined a request from the United States for naval assistance to secure the Strait of Hormuz.

According to reports in British media, Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the UK, informed U.S. President Donald Trump that Britain is not prepared to deploy its warships for this mission. Starmer explicitly refused the U.S. appeal for support in opening the strategic waterway.

President Trump had previously called on several countries, including China, France, Japan, South Korea, and United Kingdom, to send warships to the Strait of Hormuz. He expressed hope that these nations would contribute to securing this vital maritime corridor.

However, Trump’s appeal has received limited international response. Japan declined to send its naval vessels, China remained silent on the request, South Korea said it is reviewing the appeal and monitoring the situation, while France had already rejected sending ships to the region.

This leaves the U.S. without broad international naval support to secure the strategic Strait of Hormuz amid ongoing tensions in the region.
