3,000 Pakistanis Evacuated from Iran, Repatriation Efforts Continue: Foreign Office

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office of Pakistan has confirmed that the evacuation of 3,000 Pakistani nationals from Iran has been successfully completed, with further repatriation efforts ongoing.
In a media briefing, the spokesperson for the Foreign Office strongly condemned Israeli attacks on Iran, stating that these actions violated Iran’s sovereignty. The spokesperson emphasized that under the UN Charter, Iran has the right to defend itself and urged the international community and the United Nations to take action to halt Israeli aggression.
The spokesperson noted that several countries, including Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Türkiye, Oman, the UAE, Algeria, Bahrain, Brunei Darussalam, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, and Libya, have issued statements supporting Iran’s sovereignty. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has contacted the foreign ministers of Iran, Türkiye, the UAE, and the UK, urging efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.
Pakistan condemned Israel’s targeting of Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling it a blatant violation of international law. The spokesperson reiterated Pakistan’s moral and diplomatic support for Iran in the face of these attacks.
On the evacuation process, the spokesperson stated that Pakistani diplomatic missions in Iran are actively working, with full cooperation from Iranian authorities to ensure the safe return of remaining Pakistani nationals.
Kashmir
The Foreign Office also condemned continued human rights violations in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. It was noted that for the seventh consecutive year, Kashmiri Muslims were not allowed to offer Eid prayers at Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid and Eidgah.
Relations with the United States
Regarding Pakistan-U.S. relations, the spokesperson affirmed that the two countries share a longstanding, positive relationship. The Foreign Office welcomed U.S. efforts, including those by former President Donald Trump, aimed at reducing tensions between Pakistan and India.
