Pakistan Fought 96-Hour War Against India Using Its Own Resources: General Sahir Shamshad

Islamabad: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza has revealed that Pakistan fought a 96-hour conflict against India entirely using its own resources, without seeking external assistance.
In an interview with the British broadcaster BBC, General Shamshad stated that during the heightened tensions with India, Pakistan relied solely on its internal capabilities. “We did not receive any help from outside,” he emphasized, adding that the equipment used in the conflict was comparable to what India possesses.
While acknowledging that some military hardware was purchased from other countries, General Shamshad highlighted that the operation was primarily supported by indigenous capacity.
He noted a shift in the nature of the conflict compared to previous engagements. “Earlier, skirmishes were limited to disputed territories and did not reach international borders. This time, however, while the borders remained relatively calm, the tension spread to urban centers,” he said. He warned that in the future, conflicts between Pakistan and India may not remain confined to specific regions.
General Shamshad also pointed out the lack of an effective and organized mechanism to resolve bilateral disputes. “Currently, emergency communication is limited to the DGMO-level hotline,” he said.
He further expressed concern over the extremist mindset in the region, stating, “When dealing with such ideologies, the international community has very limited time to intervene.” He added that while countries like the U.S. did attempt to intervene this time, such diplomatic windows are now significantly shorter.
