Crackdown Ordered on Illegal Constructions, Unapproved Housing Societies in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD:The federal government has decided to launch an immediate operation against illegal constructions and unapproved housing societies in the capital city. The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, attended by Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, the Federal Secretary for Interior, and other senior officials.
Interior Minister Naqvi issued clear directives during the session, stating that **zero tolerance** will be observed against any unauthorized construction in Islamabad. He emphasized that **satellite mapping** should be used to promptly identify illegal structures and ensure swift action is taken against them.
A **crackdown on unapproved housing societies** was also ordered, with the minister warning that such schemes endanger both the lives and investments of citizens. He instructed relevant SPs and Assistant Commissioners to play an active role in implementing the operation and to take all necessary measures to protect public life and property.
Naqvi stressed the need to **restore public confidence** in the police and district administration, calling for the introduction of **new citizen-friendly initiatives**. He assured full support from the Ministry of Interior in implementing these reforms.
The move comes amid growing concern over the **alarming rise in illegal constructions and unauthorized housing projects** in Islamabad in recent years, which have sparked land disputes and deprived many residents of basic amenities. The operation aims to curb these unlawful developments and safeguard the rights of citizens.
