116 Women Killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in First Four Months of 2025: Police Report

Peshawar:** A shocking police report has revealed that 116 women were murdered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the first four months of 2025, with most cases linked to domestic disputes, longstanding enmities, and personal conflicts.
According to details obtained by Geo News, from January to April 2025, 147 suspects involved in these murders have been arrested.
The report highlights that:
* **Mardan Division** recorded the highest number of female homicides with **40 cases**,
* **Malakand Division** followed with **29**,
* **Peshawar Division** reported **19**,
* **Bannu Division** saw **13**,
* **Hazara Division** had **8**, and
* **Kohat Division** recorded **7** cases.
Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, stated that **special initiatives have been launched to protect women**, including the establishment of **women’s desks at police stations** to ensure that women can easily file complaints.
He emphasized that in Pashtun culture, women are respected as mothers, sisters, and daughters, and the police are committed not only to policy reforms but also to practical action for their safety.
“All those involved in these heinous crimes have been brought to justice,” the IGP added.
