Federal Minister Amir Muqam Criticizes PTI Government and Praises PML-N’s Achievements

Peshawar: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan, and SAFRON, Amir Muqam, has criticized the provincial government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), pointing out that its own ministers are accusing each other of corruption worth millions of rupees.

Addressing a “Thanksgiving Day” event in Peshawar, Muqam stressed that the central government should convey a message of gratitude and happiness to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for providing affordable electricity and other relief measures.

He commended the performance of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government over the past year, stating that it has been exemplary, and as a result, “Thanksgiving Day” is being celebrated across all 36 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Muqam also highlighted the monumental achievements of Nawaz Sharif, including motorway projects, acquiring nuclear power, and eradicating terrorism. He praised Shahbaz Sharif for his leadership, which rescued the country from the brink of default, transforming the economy through hard work and teamwork.

The federal minister criticized the economic performance under the previous government, noting that when the current government took charge, inflation was at 38%, and the prices of essential goods, including fuel, were rising. However, he assured that the PML-N government aims to reduce inflation to single digits by 2026.

Muqam emphasized that despite challenges, including the tough IMF program, the government managed to provide relief to the people. He claimed that this relief benefited not just the PML-N but the entire country, bringing in international investment, boosting exports, and reaching record levels on the stock exchange.

He strongly criticized previous governments, particularly PTI, accusing them of mismanagement and ruining institutions during their time in power. Muqam highlighted the misuse of funds, particularly during Eid and Ramadan packages, where billions of rupees were distributed among PTI workers and loyalists. He also mentioned that PTI’s own ministers are levelling accusations of corruption against each other.

Responding to the claims made by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regarding a surplus budget, Muqam dismissed them as false, questioning how there could be a surplus if no money was spent on critical sectors like education and health. He reminded that the federal government had provided over 6 billion rupees in financial assistance to 6,700 people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Further, Muqam outlined the government’s plans to support the youth through scholarships and job opportunities under the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, which will also open an office by the end of this month. He also confirmed that work on motorways will resume, terrorism will be fully eradicated, and food prices will significantly decrease.

Concluding his speech, Muqam stressed that Pakistan can only move forward with prosperity if all institutions and politicians work together.
