Federal Cabinet Approves Tax Exemption for Foreign Players and ICC Officials in Champions Trophy 2025

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the federal cabinet has approved a tax exemption for foreign players and ICC representatives participating in the Champions Trophy being hosted by Pakistan. This approval comes after support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and an agreement with the ICC for hosting the event.
According to the decision, no tax will be levied on the remuneration received by ICC officials, foreign players, coaches, umpires, agents, and media representatives covering the matches.
Reports suggest that a special amendment will be made to the Income Tax Ordinance to grant this tax exemption, and approval from the Parliament is not required for this exemption.
It is important to note that the Champions Trophy 2025 officially began on February 19, with eight international teams, including Pakistan, taking part in the event. In today’s high-voltage match, Pakistan will face off against their traditional rivals, India, in Dubai.
