Fakhar Zaman’s Emotional Moment After Getting Out in New Zealand Match Goes Viral

A video of Pakistan’s opening batsman, Fakhar Zaman, has gone viral on social media, showing him in tears after getting out against New Zealand. In the video, Fakhar can be seen walking slowly towards the pavilion, visibly upset, and once he reaches the dressing room, he sits on a chair with his head bowed and breaks down in tears. Fellow players, including Shaheen Shah Afridi and batting coach Shahid Aslam, were seen consoling him during this emotional moment.
The video has sparked a range of reactions from social media users. Some expressed their support for Fakhar, reminding him that it is all part of the game. One user wrote, “You are our soldier and a match-winner,” while another said, “Cricket is more than just a game; it is about emotions, dreams, and sacrifices.” Many expressed confidence that Fakhar would recover and return to the field stronger.
It is noteworthy that Fakhar Zaman did not open the innings in the match against New Zealand due to an injury and came to bat at number four. His injury was visibly affecting his performance, and he managed to score only 24 runs in the match. Fakhar had sustained the injury while fielding during Shaheen Afridi’s first over, after which he was forced to leave the field.
In a related development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 Technical Committee has approved the inclusion of Imam-ul-Haq in the Pakistan squad to replace Fakhar Zaman. Imam, who has played 72 One-Day Internationals, has been named as a replacement after Fakhar’s injury forced him to withdraw from the tournament.
Following his exit from the Champions Trophy, Fakhar Zaman expressed his disappointment, saying, “Representing Pakistan on the biggest stage is every cricketer’s honor and dream, and I had the privilege of doing so. Unfortunately, I am now out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but I believe Allah is the best planner. I am grateful for the opportunity I had.”
