Imran Khan Rejects Deal for House Arrest, Calls for Remittances Boycott

Rawalpindi: Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has rejected a proposed deal to shift him from jail to house arrest, emphasizing his demand for political change in the country.
According to a report by Arab News, Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail, declined an offer to be placed under house arrest at his residence in Bani Gala. The report states that the offer was made as part of talks between the government and Khan’s party to create political opportunities.
In a post on social media, Khan claimed that the government had proposed the deal as part of negotiations, but he made it clear that he would prefer to remain in jail rather than accept house arrest. He also demanded the immediate release of all PTI prisoners.
Khan further called on overseas Pakistanis to boycott remittances as part of a campaign for real freedom and the restoration of democracy in the country. He stated that remittances should be withheld until the government takes meaningful steps to meet their demands, although he hinted that the boycott could end if negotiations yield positive results.
Additionally, Khan criticized the military trials of PTI workers involved in the events of May 9, calling them a violation of transparency and citizens’ rights. He insisted that trials should be conducted in open courts with video evidence, as required by Pakistan’s constitution.
The report also noted that talks between the government and PTI aimed at easing political tensions have officially begun, with the first round of negotiations already completed.
