Sindh High Court Bench Refuses to Hear Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s Petition Against 26th Amendment
Karachi: The two-member bench of the Sindh High Court refused to entertain former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s petition challenging the 26th Constitutional Amendment. During the hearing, Justice Junaid Ghaffar remarked that the bench that granted permission for the petition would be the one to hear it.
He further stated that the Chief Justice’s bench of the Sindh High Court would be available on December 23, and the petition could be heard at that time.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had challenged the 26th Amendment in the Sindh High Court, arguing that until the matter is decided, the Judicial Commission should be stopped from functioning. He also sought a halt to the appointment of new judges in the high courts and requested that the 26th Constitutional Amendment be declared unconstitutional.
