Robbery Resistance-Related Killings Continue in Lahore, Over 375 Murders Reported in 2023
Islamabad:The disturbing trend of killings during robbery resistance and other violent crimes continues in Lahore, with a significant rise in both murder and attempted murder incidents. According to police records, during the first 11 months of the current year, 13 individuals lost their lives while resisting robberies, and a total of 375 murders were reported across the city. Additionally, 805 people sustained injuries in various violent incidents.
In terms of robbery-related killings, the **Presidency Division** topped the list with six cases, followed by the **City Division**, which recorded three deaths related to resistance during robberies. Other areas such as **Cantt**, **Civil Lines**, **Iqbal Town**, and **Model Town Divisions** each reported one fatality during robbery attempts.
Regarding general murders, **Cantt Division** led the city with 110 murder cases, while **City Division** came second with 76 cases. Both the **Presidency Division** and **Model Town Division** reported 62 murders each, placing them in third position. **Iqbal Town Division** saw 48 murders, and **Civil Lines Division** recorded 17.
In addition to these murders, **Civil Lines Division** also reported a troubling number of **attempted murders**, with 62 such incidents registered over the past 11 months.
These statistics highlight the ongoing law and order challenges in Lahore, where increasing violence, including fatal robberies and other murders, has raised serious concerns about public safety and the effectiveness of policing in curbing crime. The city’s residents are calling for more stringent measures to address the growing trend of violent crime and ensure the safety of the public.
