PM Shehbaz Sharif Expresses Eagerness for Emir of Qatar’s Visit, Highlights Strong Bilateral Relations
Islamabad:Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, expressed his eagerness for the upcoming visit of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, emphasizing that the friendship between Pakistan and Qatar is timeless. He acknowledged the long-standing religious and cultural ties between the two brotherly nations.
While speaking at a prestigious event in Islamabad on the occasion of Qatar’s National Day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended heartfelt congratulations to the government and people of Qatar. He affirmed that Pakistan highly values its fraternal and friendly relations with Qatar.
“We are eagerly awaiting the visit of His Highness the Emir of Qatar to Pakistan,” said the Prime Minister. “I have no doubt that his visit will undoubtedly strengthen our brotherly ties and pave the way for mutual collaboration, particularly in the field of investment. We are keen to leverage Qatari investments for the benefit of both nations.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted Qatar’s proactive role in supporting Pakistani youth, particularly in the fields of Information Technology (IT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). He stated that Qatar has been encouraging Pakistani young men and women who are highly skilled in IT, and Pakistan is preparing a comprehensive program to send them to Qatar. “They will be excellent ambassadors for Pakistan in Qatar,” he added.
The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening the bonds of friendship with Qatar. “We are determined to make our relationship even more robust, and together, Insha Allah, we will make our ties more resilient.”
**Efforts to Evacuate Stranded Pakistanis from Damascus**
During his speech, the Prime Minister also shared details of his recent conversation with the Prime Minister of Lebanon regarding the evacuation of around 350 stranded Pakistani nationals in Damascus. “The airport in Damascus is closed, and these Pakistanis are eager to return home. I have spoken to my brother, the Lebanese Prime Minister, and requested immediate assistance to facilitate their evacuation,” said Shehbaz Sharif.
He explained that the plan is to help these Pakistanis travel by land to Beirut and then arrange for their flight from Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport back to Pakistan. “In response to my call, the Lebanese Prime Minister assured me, saying, ‘Brother Shehbaz Sharif, we are brothers, and there is no issue. We will help. Let them come to Beirut. We will provide all necessary facilities for their stay and ensure their safe and comfortable return to Pakistan,'” the Prime Minister shared.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed hope that the stranded Pakistanis would soon be safe and make their way back to their homeland.
**Celebrating Qatar’s National Day**
Earlier in the evening, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Ambassador of Qatar to Pakistan, Ali Mubarak Ali Isa Al-Khater, jointly cut a cake to celebrate Qatar’s National Day. The Prime Minister once again extended his warm congratulations to the Qatari Ambassador and the people of Qatar on this special occasion.
