Speaker Balochistan Assembly Emphasizes Support for Religious Schools, Calls for Implementation of Education Agreement
Quetta:The Speaker of the **Balochistan Provincial Assembly**, **Captain (Retd.) Abdul Khaliq Khan Achakzai**, in a recent statement, emphasized the importance of promoting religious education and organizing the system of **madrasas** (religious schools) in Pakistan. He highlighted an important agreement reached in **August 2019** between the **Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training** and the **Ittehad Tanzeemat Madaris Pakistan** (Union of Madrassa Organizations).
Under this agreement, the registration of all religious schools with the Ministry of Education was made mandatory. It also stipulated that registered madrasas must open bank accounts and comply with government regulations and visa policies for foreign teachers and students.
**Captain Achakzai** made it clear that his stance was not against religious schools. “We hold madrasas and their students in high regard, and they are an important part of our society. However, the use of madrasas for political purposes is absolutely unacceptable,” he stated.
He further explained that the agreement aims to improve the quality of education in madrasas and ensure transparency while safeguarding national interests. **Achakzai** emphasized that it is the responsibility of all relevant institutions and organizations to implement the provisions of this agreement.
The Speaker also called for fostering unity and prioritizing national security and cohesion. “It is our collective responsibility to promote harmony and always place the interests of the nation above all else,” he added.
He expressed hope that all political parties would keep national interests at the forefront of their actions and contribute to the formation of a strong and stable Pakistan by upholding the principles of this agreement.
The statement underscores the commitment to improving the education system in madrasas while ensuring that they contribute positively to the country’s growth and stability.
