Mahira Khan Talks About Shopping in Burqa and Being Recognized by Fans
IslamabadضRenowned actress Mahira Khan recently shared an interesting experience from her shopping trips in Karachi and Lahore, where she often wears a *burqa* to maintain some privacy. Speaking at the 17th International Urdu Conference in Karachi, Mahira revealed that despite covering herself from head to toe in a *burqa*, fans are still able to recognize her, primarily by her voice.
She explained, “Whenever I go shopping in the markets of Karachi and Lahore while wearing a *burqa*, people still recognize me. I’m fully covered, but fans often say, ‘Aren’t you Mahira Khan?’ I usually deny it and say, ‘No, I’m not Mahira Khan.’”
She humorously added, “I tell my manager not to take me to places like Lighthouse because the shopping there is amazing. Even if you have to take me there in a *burqa*, I’m fine with it. But the issue is, once I go to these markets, people always recognize me by my voice.”
Mahira continued, “The problem is, it’s impossible for me to remain quiet. If I don’t talk, the shopping experience just isn’t the same!”
The actress, known for her roles in films like *Raees* and *Bol*, has always been open about her desire for a normal life despite the pressures of fame. However, her candid conversation at the conference sheds light on the ongoing challenge of maintaining privacy in public spaces, especially for celebrities in Pakistan.
