Azma Bokhari Questions Bushra Bibi’s Role in Distributing Cheques and Criticizes Misuse of Funds
Lahore: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has raised questions about Bushra Bibi’s role in distributing cheques to the public, asking in which capacity she is doing so. In a statement, Bokhari condemned the use of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s funds for personal photo sessions and self-promotion, calling it shameful.
Bokhari also hit out at Bushra Bibi’s previous claims, suggesting that while she claimed not to have fled, it was the opposition that set a “world record” in running away. She further demanded clarification on the whereabouts of the large crowd that had reportedly followed Bushra Bibi to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the protests.
On the topic of the recent unrest, Bokhari provided financial figures, stating that the attack on the Federation on October 5 had cost the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government Rs. 81 crore, while the third failed rebellion on November 24 had incurred costs exceeding Rs. 2 billion.
The Minister also described how, on the night of November 26, the nation witnessed Bushra Bibi fleeing from D-Chowk, with her own workers reportedly attacking her vehicle with stones and sticks. Bokhari emphasized that CCTV footage showed Bushra Bibi switching vehicles in an attempt to escape, and that she had been seen hiding and changing cars.
Lastly, Bokhari criticized Bushra Bibi for enjoying lavish lifestyles at the expense of state funds, while refusing to appear in court despite multiple summons, citing illness as a reason. She accused Bushra Bibi of avoiding her arrest by deliberately skipping 10 consecutive court hearings.
