Establishment and PTI Communication Revealed Before Islamabad Protest
Peshawar: New revelations have surfaced about the communication between the Establishment and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) before the November 24th protest in Islamabad. An internal account of the PTI parliamentary party meeting has come to light, where the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa briefed the party members about the situation before and after November 24.
According to sources within PTI, the final decision to call for the protest was made after negotiations between the party and the Establishment broke down. The Chief Minister and PTI leadership were reportedly involved in mediation efforts to avoid further escalation.
The sources indicate that prior to November 24, efforts were underway to smooth the path for talks between PTI and the Establishment, with attempts to persuade Imran Khan gaining traction. However, the situation took a turn when Imran Khan decided to call for a protest on November 24, despite ongoing negotiations.
It was revealed that the decision to announce the protest on November 24 came as a surprise to those trying to mediate talks. The announcement of rallies in various cities of the country before the protest date also came into play.
During the meeting, it was noted that Imran Khan was ready to lead the protest at the venue in Sajjani, but his wife, Bushra Bibi, decided to head to D-Chowk as per Imran Khan’s instructions. Following a government crackdown during the protest, the Chief Minister’s decision was to move Bushra Bibi to a safe location. The Chief Minister later confirmed that Bushra Bibi was moved for her security and respect for her position as Imran Khan’s spouse.
Relations between PTI and the Establishment have significantly worsened since the protest, with sources suggesting that any future reconciliation efforts would likely take a long time. PTI has now postponed its decision to hold further protests in Islamabad for the time being, but party members have assured the Chief Minister of their continued support for future actions.
On the other hand, PTI’s Secretary of Information, Sheikh Waqas Akram, has denied any plans for another protest on December 7.
