Mahamood Khan Achakzai Calls for Legal Action Against Interior Minister and IG Islamabad Over D-Chowk Deaths

Quetta: The Chairman of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and leader of the Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain Pakistan, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, has demanded a judicial inquiry into the deaths that occurred at D-Chowk, Islamabad. He called for legal action against Federal Minister for Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, stating that a case should be filed against them in relation to these fatalities.
During a press conference in Quetta, Achakzai accused the government of manipulating the results of the February 8 elections, thereby robbing the public of their mandate. He stated, “The results of the election were altered, and after that, the constitution was disregarded in parliament.”
He further alleged that votes were bought for 70 crores each, and peaceful protests against this crisis were suppressed, with thousands of protesters at D-Chowk being shot at. Achakzai claimed that PTI supporters were specifically targeted and shot in the head.
“Without the rule of law and the constitution, the country cannot function,” he added. “Our internal and foreign policies must be independent, and every institution must work within its limits to resolve the crisis.”
He also criticized the government’s failure to act in incidents like the killings of innocent people in Radashem and Hernai, claiming that no arrests were made in these cases. “A state that cannot provide peace to its people has no right to rule,” he said, calling the current government a “fake” one that does not have the support of the people.
Achakzai reiterated his demand for a judicial inquiry into the deaths at D-Chowk and for legal action against Mohsin Naqvi and the IG Islamabad. He also called for the release of PTI founder Imran Khan on bail and declared that his party would not accept fascism.
“If the government continues with its current approach, the people will rise, and the country could disintegrate,” he warned.
He concluded by criticizing the government for its failure to provide for the poor while spending large sums on buying votes. “If anyone truly loves Pakistan, they should repent. When a crisis hits, it is the poor people who will save the country, not those who plunder it,” Achakzai said.
