KP govt approves security risk allowance of 250% of basic salary for officers

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved an Extraordinary Security Risk Allowance equal to 250 per cent of the running basic salary for civil and police officers serving in districts affected by terrorism and law-and-order challenges.
As per the report, the official notification states that officers belonging to the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) and Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) posted in the designated districts will be eligible for the allowance.
The districts eligible for the allowance will be identified by the Home Department, which will prepare a list at the beginning of each financial year.
The notification states that officers will not receive the allowance during transfers, suspension, leave or postings as Officers on Special Duty (OSD).
All expenses related to the allowance will be borne by the federal government, and the amount will be subject to income tax. However, the provincial government will temporarily cover payments if federal disbursements are delayed, without assuming any permanent financial liability.
The KP provincial government has also directed the Finance Department to establish a special mechanism to monitor the expenditure and recoveries from the federal government.
