PTA Denies Viral Notification Claiming Immediate TikTok Ban in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has strongly denied a viral notification claiming an immediate ban on TikTok across Pakistan, clarifying that the document circulating on social media is fake, baseless and misleading.

A document bearing the PTA’s name and official logo had been circulating on various social media platforms, claiming that the authority had decided to immediately block the popular video-sharing application throughout the country.

Dated November 4, 2026, the purported notification claimed that the decision had been taken after reviewing content available on the platform and assessing potential risks associated with it.

Taking notice of the rumours, the PTA issued an official clarification, stating that it had neither made any decision to ban TikTok nor issued any official notification announcing such a move.

The authority categorically declared that the document circulating on social media was fabricated and that the claims contained in it were contrary to the facts.

The PTA urged citizens and social media users across the country not to believe or share unverified news, rumours or fake notifications without proper confirmation.

It advised the public to rely only on the authority’s official website and verified social media accounts for authentic information regarding any decisions or announcements made by the government or the PTA.
