Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sends Legal Notices to Chaudhry Salik, Anchor Naeem Ashraf Butt and ARY Management

LAHORE (Daily Qudrat): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has sent legal notices to Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain, anchor Naeem Ashraf Butt and ARY management.
In the legal notice from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the position was taken that Chaudhry Salik Hussain claimed that cupboards are filled with corruption files in Punjab, but did not present any authentic evidence in support of the allegations; through the said statements, an attempt was made to damage the Punjab government’s credibility and public trust.
According to the legal notice of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, in Chaudhry Salik Hussain’s interview broadcast on ARY News on 2 November 2026, Maryam Nawaz raised objection to the corruption-related allegations against the Punjab government and the Punjab Chief Minister.
The legal notice took the position that anchor Naeem Ashraf Butt initiated the conversation in the interview by highlighting the matter of alleged corruption in Punjab, after which Chaudhry Salik Hussain levelled serious allegations against the provincial government.
The legal notice also cited Chaudhry Salik Hussain’s statement that Chaudhry Salik claimed to have heard talk of corruption in Punjab and that cupboards are filled with corruption files, but did not present any authentic evidence in support of his allegations.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain himself admitted that he does not have evidence to prove the corruption allegations; his serious claims regarding corruption in Punjab created the impression among the public that large-scale corruption exists in the provincial administration.

The legal notice also questioned Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik’s office — that a person holding this important position is expected to speak responsibly, and it is not appropriate to present mere hearsay as fact. During the interview, the anchor also did not seek evidence to verify the allegations. According to the legal notice, political criticism and questioning government performance is everyone’s right, but baseless allegations cannot be spread.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, expressing severe anger over Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain’s statements regarding corruption in Punjab, had announced sending him a damages notice. Addressing an event in Attock, she said that if Chaudhry Salik has any evidence of corruption against the Punjab government or her, he should bring it before the people, otherwise she will drag him to court. As a federal minister, he should avoid levelling airy allegations without any documentary evidence. If the current provincial government and system are so corrupt in his eyes, then under what moral justification is he sitting on the chair of a federal ministry?
Regarding Chaudhry Salik’s praise of former Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi, Maryam Nawaz had said that the person says the best government was Pervaiz Elahi’s, but the reality is that when I went to Gujrat during the rain, so much water had accumulated on the roads and in the neighbourhoods that even my own car sank in the water. I will not come under anyone’s blackmailing or pressure on the issue of corruption; all appointments across the province are being ensured purely on merit, because every person appointed on recommendation sinks the boat of the country and the poor people.
