Maryam Nawaz Should Correct Her Speech and Tone: Q-League’s Reaction
LAHORE (Daily Qudrat): After Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s announcement of sending a damages notice to Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain, a strong reaction has emerged from the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q). PML-Q spokesman Mustafa Malik, criticising Maryam Nawaz’s tone, has said that pride and arrogance befit only Allah Almighty, therefore the Punjab Chief Minister should correct her speech and tone. Had Chaudhry Salik Hussain not been there, you would neither be Chief Minister today nor would your “table-player” Bukhari Sahiba be a minister.
In a statement in this regard, reacting to Maryam Nawaz’s announcement of a damages notice, the Q-League spokesman said that if she sends a notice, a full legal and political response will also be given. Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and the Q-League, together with allied parties, had used their political influence to hand over power to Maryam Nawaz. It is because of the sacrifices of Chaudhry Salik Hussain’s father that she is today seated on the province’s Chief Minister’s chair.
Mustafa Malik sarcastically said that had the 2023 agreed deal reached completion, Maryam Nawaz would never have become Chief Minister today. Therefore, instead of acting ungratefully, past facts should be kept in view. We are allies of the ruling coalition — so should we remain silent on any wrong step or policy of the government? If you give respect, you will get respect in return, and those sitting in glass houses should not dare to throw stones at others.
He said that his party has always sincerely appreciated the Punjab government’s good work and welfare measures, but it is surprising that Maryam Nawaz could not tolerate even a slight complaint or criticism. If she does not know the skill and manner of taking political allies along, she should learn it from her uncle. Such threats and damages notices will not demoralise PML-Q leaders, and they will continue to raise their voice for the public interest.
