Islamabad High Court Grants Protective Bail to TikToker Mr Patlo, Bars Police From Arresting Him Until November 10

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has granted protective bail to TikToker Mr Patlo until November 10 in connection with a stampede at a mehndi ceremony in Sialkot, directing the relevant police authorities not to arrest him during this period.

According to journalist Faisal Abbas Khar, the court proceedings took place under unusual circumstances, as Mr Patlo was brought to the Islamabad High Court in a wheelchair.

He was taken to the chamber of Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar at 1:40pm. After a brief hearing lasting just five minutes, the court issued an order granting him protective bail at 1:45pm. Following the issuance of the order, Mr Patlo was seen leaving the chief justice’s chamber in his wheelchair.

With protective bail granted until November 10, police and other law enforcement agencies cannot arrest him during this period. The relief provides him an opportunity to approach the relevant sessions or trial court and pursue pre-arrest bail or other legal remedies.

It may be recalled that thousands of people gathered at Mr Patlo’s mehndi ceremony and musical event in Sialkot following announcements of prize draws. A stampede broke out amid severe disorder, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to several others.

Following the incident, police registered a case and arrested several people, while legal proceedings were also initiated against Mr Patlo, who was considered a central figure in the event.
