PPP Nominates Faisal Rathore as PM Candidate Ahead of No-Confidence Motion in AJK

Islamabad: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has announced plans to submit a no-confidence motion in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly and has nominated Faisal Rathore as its candidate for the position of Prime Minister.
Speaking at a press conference, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf stated that the PPP has the required numbers to move the no-confidence motion and form the government in AJK.
Chaudhry Yasin, President of PPP AJK, said that the “golden number” for the motion is 27, but with the support of the PML-N, the party commands 40 votes. He added that party leadership has decided that General Secretary Faisal Rathore will be the PPP’s candidate for AJK Prime Minister, noting that this will be a short-term government and “not a bed of roses.”
Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said the no-confidence motion will be submitted on Monday, and emphasized that Faisal Rathore is experienced and capable of managing assembly proceedings efficiently.
Meanwhile, the incumbent Prime Minister of AJK has decided not to resign and plans to strongly contest the no-confidence motion.
