Australian All-Rounder Glenn Maxwell Announces Retirement from International Cricket

SYDNEY:Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing an end to a career spanning more than a decade.
According to an international cricket website, the 38-year-old announced his decision on Monday, marking the conclusion of his international career across all three formats.
Known for his aggressive batting and powerful hitting, Maxwell represented Australia in Test, One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International cricket. He was also part of Australia’s World Cup-winning teams in 2015 and 2023, as well as the team that won the T20 World Cup in 2021.
Maxwell played seven Test matches, 149 ODIs and 130 T20 Internationals for Australia.
He made his international debut in an ODI against Afghanistan in August 2012. In 149 ODI appearances, he scored 3,990 runs, including a career-best 201, and claimed 77 wickets.
He made his T20 International debut against Pakistan in September 2012. In 130 matches, he scored 2,897 runs and took 51 wickets. His highest individual score in the format was 145.
Maxwell made his Test debut against India in 2013 and played seven matches in the longest format. His highest Test score was 104, also against India, while his best bowling figures were four wickets for 127 runs.
Despite his reputation for explosive batting and six-hitting ability, Maxwell had been struggling with inconsistent form in recent times. He had already announced his retirement from ODI cricket in June 2025.
His last appearance for Australia came against Oman in the 2026 T20 World Cup.
