Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan Likely to Be Dropped for Bangladesh T20I Series

Team Management Favors Giving Opportunities to Young Players

Lahore – Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam and vice-captain Mohammad Rizwan are likely to be rested or dropped for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Bangladesh, according to media reports. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and team management are reportedly inclined towards testing young talent ahead of the T20 World Cup preparations.
The squad for the series has not yet been officially announced, but sources suggest that the management is considering alternatives for the opening slot besides Babar and Rizwan. Despite both players being rested during the recent T20I series against New Zealand, Pakistan suffered a disappointing 1-4 defeat.
Players under consideration for the opening roles include Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, and possibly Sahibzada Farhan. Others who may be included in the squad are Hussain Talat, Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf, and Ali Raza.
The T20I series against Bangladesh will kick off with the first two matches scheduled for May 25 and 27 in Faisalabad, while the remaining three games will be held at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on May 30, June 1, and June 3. All matches will begin at 8 PM local time.
