Solution to National Problems Lies in Mutual Charter and Serious Political Dialogue: Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey

QILA SAIFULLAH, LORALAI (Daily Qudrat Quetta): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Balochistan Provincial Ameer Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey has said that JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s political insight, reasoned stance on national issues and representation of public aspirations can play an important role in taking the country out of its current crises. He said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s recent speech in the National Assembly is praiseworthy, in which he identified national problems and drew the government and opposition’s attention toward a new charter.

He expressed these views while addressing the annual Dastar-e-Fazilat conference of Madrasa Aqsa in Margha Faqirzai, after offering prayers for goodwill, on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony of a water supply bore in Shinal Gat in the Muslim Bagh area, accompanied by scholars and party workers.

Maulana Abdul Wasey said that for political stability and development in the country, all political forces will have to rise above personal and party differences and give priority to national interest. He said that scholars are playing an important role in the religious, moral and reformative training of society, while religious madrassas are the guardians of Islamic teachings, civilisation and the nation’s moral identity. Patronage, support and protection of these institutions is a religious and national responsibility. According to him, madrassas have always spread the message of knowledge, peace, tolerance and reform.

He said that practical steps are indispensable for providing basic facilities to the people of Balochistan, ensuring the availability of clean drinking water and promoting education. Resolution of public problems and development of backward areas should be among the priorities.

Meanwhile, JUI Balochistan Provincial Secretary General Agha Mahmood Shah, speaking to a delegation of workers, said that some individuals who in the past, during difficult circumstances, presented their problems and needs before JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman are today criticising the JUI leadership under political interests.

Agha Mahmood Shah claimed that behind this course of action, political compulsions and the desire to maintain power obtained through Form 47 appear visible. He said that the JUI leadership has always spoken of principled politics, the supremacy of the Constitution, democratic values and protection of public rights.

According to him, political disagreement is everyone’s right; however, criticism should be within the bounds of argument, facts and political ethics. Targeting the leadership merely under political expediency will not solve public problems. He said that to deal with the challenges facing the country and the province, serious political dialogue, national unity and giving priority to public interests are the need of the hour.
