Three Family Members Killed, One Critically Injured in Daylight Shooting in Quetta
QUETTA: Three members of the same family, including a father, son and brother, were killed, while another young man was critically injured in a daylight shooting incident allegedly triggered by a financial dispute on Sabzal Road in Quetta on Monday.
The incident took place at Pod Gali Chowk, spreading fear and panic throughout the area. The alleged attacker, identified as Hashim, reportedly opened indiscriminate fire on the opposing party before fleeing the scene.
According to police sources, the shooting stemmed from a financial dispute involving a monetary transaction. Four people were hit by bullets and collapsed at the scene.
Upon receiving information, police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies and injured person to nearby hospitals for medical and legal formalities.
Rescue officials said two bodies were taken to Bolan Medical Complex (BMC) Hospital, where the deceased were identified as Manzoor, son of Muhammad Siddiq, and Basit, son of Muhammad Sadiq.
Another body, identified as Muhammad Sadiq, son of Muhammad Siddiq, along with the critically injured Haseeb, son of Muhammad Sadiq, was shifted to the Trauma Centre at Civil Hospital Quetta. The injured man was reported to be in critical condition.
Police said all four victims belonged to the Marri tribe and were residents of the Sabzal Road area of Quetta.
Police Launch Search for Suspect
Following the incident, police initiated legal proceedings and handed over the bodies to the heirs after completing the necessary formalities.
Police said efforts had been launched to arrest the nominated suspect, Hashim, and that checkpoints and other measures were being put in place to apprehend him.
Meanwhile, citizens and public circles expressed deep concern over the daylight shooting and the loss of precious lives in the provincial capital. They questioned the law-and-order situation in the city, expressing alarm that disputes over money were increasingly resulting in deadly violence involving firearms.
Residents called for effective measures by the police and district administration to prevent such incidents and ensure public safety.
The investigation into the shooting is underway.
