PESHAWAR:Allegations have emerged that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers and other political representatives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa retained 23 government-owned vehicles for unauthorised and personal use.

According to the report, several PTI members of the National Assembly and provincial assembly were found to be using vehicles belonging to the provincial government.

PTI MNA Sohail Sultan was reportedly using a Toyota Yaris, while MPAs Sharafat and Malik Shafiullah Khan were allegedly in possession of official Toyota Revo vehicles. Similar allegations were levelled against MPA Azam Khan, MPA Ubaidur Rehman and MNA Mehboob Shah.

The report further claimed that MPA Liaqat Khan was using an official Toyota Corolla, while MPA Abdul Muneem and Shangla Zakat Committee Chairman Zaidullah were reportedly using Toyota Revo vehicles.

Other lawmakers named in the report include MPA Fakhar Jahan, who was allegedly using a Toyota Grande; MPA Abdul Kabir, who reportedly had a Toyota Revo; and MPA Riaz Khan, who was said to be using a Honda Civic.

MPAs Anwar Khan and Yameen Khan were also allegedly using government-owned Toyota Revo vehicles, while MPA Fazal Hakeem was reportedly in possession of a Toyota Fortuner.

The report additionally claimed that Peshawar Division MPA Dr Israr Mohmand had access to a Toyota Fortuner and a Toyota Vigo. In Kohat Division, MPAs Daud and Shah Turab were allegedly using official Toyota GLI vehicles.

In Mardan Division, PTI MPA Zarshad was reportedly using three government vehicles: a Toyota Corolla, a Toyota Vigo and a Suzuki Cultus. The Tehsil Chairman of Swabi was also said to have a Toyota Yaris.

The allegations have raised questions about the use and oversight of public assets in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However, the claims require independent verification, and no official response from the individuals named was included in the provided report.

Further investigation and clarification from the relevant authorities would be necessary to establish whether the vehicles were retained or used without proper authorisation.
