KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has proposed expanding cooperation with China in artificial intelligence (AI), research and teacher training during his visit to Central China Normal University (CCNU), emphasizing stronger academic and cultural ties between universities in Sindh and China.

The chief minister, accompanied by a high-level delegation, visited Central China Normal University, where he was received by Vice President Mr. Li and faculty members.

The delegation included provincial ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon and Jam Khan Shoro, Special Assistant Qasim Naveed, Principal Secretary Agha Wasif, Chairman of the Planning and Development Board Najam Shah, Secretary Investment Raja Khurram Shehzad, and Secretary Transport Asad Zamin.

During the visit, Murad Ali Shah toured digital teaching and learning classrooms and received a briefing on digital learning initiatives. He also held meetings with university Vice President Professor Peng Shuangji and Party Committee Secretary Mr. Xia Lixin to discuss academic cooperation and potential joint projects.

The chief minister stressed the importance of strengthening educational and cultural collaboration between Sindh’s universities and CCNU. He proposed student exchange programmes, teacher training initiatives and joint research projects to promote academic links between Sindh and China.

He also suggested expanding cooperation in artificial intelligence, renewable energy and smart cities, while emphasizing the need to strengthen Chinese-language education links between educational institutions in Sindh and the Chinese university.

“Education is an important bridge between nations,” Murad Ali Shah said, adding that closer links between Pakistani and Chinese universities would provide young people with opportunities to learn from one another.

He said CCNU’s expertise and experience could help strengthen Sindh’s education system and improve the quality of academic and research activities.

The chief minister noted that Sindh has more than 60 universities and technical institutions, with over 200,000 students graduating from educational institutions across the province each year.

He said the Sindh government was focusing on digital literacy, technical training and international cooperation in education. Climate change, digital transformation and sustainable development, he added, were among the major challenges facing the world today.

Murad Ali Shah also invited CCNU faculty members and students to visit Sindh to explore opportunities for further academic and cultural collaboration.

During the visit, he met Pakistani students studying at the university and encouraged them to work hard and make the most of their educational opportunities.
