Pakistani National Killed, 11 Injured in Second Attack on Riyadh Airport

RIYADH: A Pakistani national was killed and 11 people were seriously injured in a projectile and missile attack targeting Passenger Terminal 4 at King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh.
According to international media reports, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed the incident, stating that a projectile struck Terminal 4 directly, triggering a fire inside the hall and causing significant material damage to the airport’s infrastructure.
The Saudi-led military coalition said its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed another missile launched by Houthi rebels. However, two powerful explosions were heard across the capital amid the attacks, triggering panic and fear among residents.
The incident came a day after another violent attack on the airport reportedly killed 12 people and injured 309 others. Following the earlier incident, flight operations were suspended and a high alert was declared across the region.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a blatant violation of international law and a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
He said emergency instructions had been issued to the Pakistani Embassy in Riyadh to ensure that all injured Pakistani nationals received the best possible medical treatment and that affected families were provided with full assistance and care.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed deep sorrow and concern over the incident and extended his condolences to the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, the federal government reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to protecting Saudi Arabia’s security, sovereignty and territorial integrity under the defence agreement between the two countries.
