Balochistan Home Minister Urges Sohail Afridi to Focus on Youth Development Instead of Confrontational Politics

QUETTA: Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau has said that the provincial government and people stand alongside the state in the fight against terrorism, stressing that peace, stability and development in Pakistan are a shared responsibility.

In a statement, Langau urged Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to focus on public welfare, development and a brighter future for young people instead of mobilising people in ways that could create instability in the country.

He said the Balochistan government was implementing various programmes to engage young people in positive activities and provide them with opportunities in sports, education, employment and development.

The minister said that advancing political differences in a manner that creates unrest and instability was not in the national interest. He emphasised that providing young people with access to education, sports, skills training and employment was far more important than involving them in confrontational and disruptive politics.

Referring to the KP chief minister’s reported plans to mobilise people and march towards Islamabad or another city, Langau said such a strategy would not resolve political issues.

He said marching on a city or the federal capital, creating confrontations on roads and escalating tensions with state institutions were not solutions to the country’s problems. Instead, such actions could worsen the situation, increase public hardships and damage the national economy.

Langau maintained that disagreement was a democratic right of every political party, but stressed that this right must be exercised within the framework of the Constitution, law and democratic traditions.

He said political leaders had a responsibility to resolve disputes through dialogue, mutual understanding and constitutional means rather than leading people towards confrontation.

“Pakistan cannot afford confrontation,” the minister said, adding that political tolerance, responsible conduct and constructive politics were essential to moving the country forward.

He reaffirmed that the Balochistan government would continue working with the public to promote peace, advance development and improve opportunities and living conditions for the province’s youth and citizens.
