Balochistan Food Authority Foils Attempt to Supply Unfit Chicken Meat in Quetta
Quetta: The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) has seized a large quantity of allegedly unfit chicken meat in a crackdown aimed at preventing unsafe food from reaching consumers.
Acting on a tip-off, a BFA Food Safety Team led by Director Operations Fakhruddin Marri conducted a raid near Quetta Airport and recovered the meat from passenger bus BSB-743, which had arrived from Multan.
According to the BFA, the chicken meat was being transported under highly unhygienic and improper conditions. Officials said the timely operation prevented the meat from reaching local markets, where it was suspected to be intended for supply to hotels, restaurants, and other food outlets.
Director Operations Fakhruddin Marri said the authority follows a zero-tolerance policy against substandard and unsafe food products and will not compromise on public health.
He urged consumers to exercise caution when purchasing chicken and, wherever possible, have poultry slaughtered and cut in their presence to reduce the risk of buying unsafe meat.
Marri also appealed to the public to immediately report any suspected substandard or contaminated food to the Balochistan Food Authority, emphasizing that public cooperation is essential in the fight against food adulteration and unsafe food practices.
The BFA did not immediately disclose the quantity of meat seized or whether legal action had been initiated against those allegedly involved in the attempted supply.
