Punjab’s ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ Project Named Among World’s Top Five Affordable Housing Schemes

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s flagship “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” housing project has received international recognition after being named among the world’s five best affordable housing initiatives.
Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, in a post on social media platform X, said the project had been honoured with the Scroll of Honour Award by UN-Habitat, the United Nations agency focused on human settlements and sustainable urban development.
According to Aurangzeb, more than 200,000 houses are being provided across Punjab under the initiative. The project aims to enable thousands of families to have homes of their own while providing them with security, dignity and a better future.

An award ceremony was held in Muscat, the capital of Oman, where the project received the international recognition.
The Punjab government said the global award belonged to the people of the province and represented recognition of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision for a prosperous, empowered and dignified Punjab.
The government described the international honour as a significant achievement for Punjab’s affordable housing efforts and a testament to the province’s commitment to providing shelter to deserving families.
