Islamabad Police Seek 16,000 Personnel from Punjab to Deal with PTI Long March

Islamabad: Islamabad Police have requested a heavy contingent of 16,000 personnel from Punjab and 2,000 from Sindh to deal with the PTI long march. According to sources cited by Geo News, Islamabad Police, in light of the directives and orders of the Ministry of Interior, have begun implementing a strategy to deal with PTI’s possible long march on September 27.
Islamabad Police have requested 16,000 personnel from Punjab and 2,000 from Sindh to deal with the PTI long march. Similarly, 3 DIGs, 7 SSPs, and 18 SPs have also been sought from Punjab and Sindh.

Likewise, Islamabad Police have also requested Rs8.27 billion for security arrangements, and more than 2,000 containers have been moved to Islamabad and Attock to block highways. It has been learned that around 30,000 personnel will be deployed in Attock. The strategy devised is that more arrests will be made rather than dispersing protesters. Furthermore, according to media reports, government machinery has been mobilized to block highways and dig trenches to stop PTI’s long march. In this regard, a video surfaced on X showing that the DI Khan-Mianwali CPEC highway is being blocked with sand-filled containers.
Work is underway at full speed with tractors to block the highway. Reports have also emerged of the federal government erecting obstacles on roads and digging trenches.

According to media, the government has prepared a strategy to stop PTI protesters coming to Islamabad from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, under which it has been decided to dig trenches on highways leading from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Islamabad. Media sources say that trenches will be dug on GT Road to stop protesting demonstrators. Trenches will be dug at 26 Number Chungi, Pirwadhai, IGP Road, Aswal Road, and Katti Pahari. Similarly, obstacles will be erected on routes leading from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Islamabad. Laborers have been summoned to dig the trenches, while sandbags are also being collected; the sandbags will be placed in containers.
