DIG Quetta Angered by Traditional Delays and Criminal Practice of Not Registering FIRs at Police Stations

Officers Who Limit Cases to the Daily Diary Warned of Severe Departmental Action for Negligence

Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta): Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Quetta Imran Shaukat has taken serious notice of public complaints of theft, snatching and other street crimes, and has issued strict instructions to all station house officers.

He made it clear that on receiving information of a cognisable offence, an FIR must be registered immediately in accordance with the law, instead of merely entering the matter in the daily diary and closing the case.

DIG Quetta warned that strict departmental action would be taken against any officer who deliberately neglects or delays the registration of an FIR. He directed divisional superintendents of police and subdivisional police officers to personally monitor such matters in their respective areas so that prompt legal action and redress of citizens’ complaints can be ensured.

DIG Imran Shaukat advised citizens that in case of any police-related problem, they should file a complaint on the Quetta Police website or approach the office of the concerned officer directly, as the doors of the police remain open to the public at all times.
