Sluggishness and Delaying Tactics of Departments Unacceptable, Timely Implementation of Government Decisions Must Be Ensured: Chief Secretary

Negligence in Redressal of Public Complaints Will Not Be Tolerated; Human Interference and Arbitrariness in Recruitments Will Be Eliminated

QUETTA (Daily Qudrat Quetta) — A high-level meeting of provincial administrative secretaries was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary of Balochistan, in which administrative, financial, developmental, and public service-related matters of the provincial government were reviewed in detail.

The meeting was attended by the Senior Member Board of Revenue, Chairman CMIT, Additional Chief Secretary Development and Planning, Secretary Finance, and other administrative secretaries. At the outset of the meeting, the progress of directives issued by various departments and the status of implementation of government decisions were reviewed.

On this occasion, the Chief Secretary directed that timely and effective implementation of government orders is the fundamental hallmark of good governance; therefore, all departments should ensure verifiable progress regarding their performance, targets, and results.

The meeting also reviewed the system for redressal of public complaints. The Chief Secretary directed that citizens’ complaints should be dealt with on a priority basis, and an effective record of registration, action, and final resolution of complaints should be maintained so that the public can receive immediate and transparent relief from government institutions. He said that there should be no delay in public service.

The meeting was informed that the process of appointments will be completed under a modern and transparent system based on artificial intelligence, the purpose of which is to ensure merit, equal opportunities, and transparency. Through this system, candidates’ eligibility, educational qualifications, experience, and other prescribed criteria will be assessed in an impartial manner, while the possibilities of human interference will be minimized so that no candidate faces injustice or discrimination. The Chief Secretary said that all stages should be completed in accordance with the rules and regulations, and every deserving candidate should be given their rightful due. This step will promote transparency, merit, and trust in the recruitment process, reduce public complaints, and further strengthen the people’s confidence in the provincial government.

He directed that a complete record of government vehicles and other assets should be maintained. The meeting also considered the databases under the control of provincial departments, their mutual integration, and the effective use of data for decision-making. The Chief Secretary said that accurate, timely, and integrated information is indispensable for modern governance; therefore, all departments should keep their data updated and promote transparent and speedy decision-making through the digital system.

The meeting also discussed pending judicial and legal cases of various departments, delegation of government accounts, and matters related to autonomous institutions. The relevant secretaries were directed to ensure effective pursuit of legal matters, protection of government interests, and financial discipline in all circumstances.

He said that the provincial government is taking practical steps to provide better facilities to the people, transparent administration, a merit-based system, and timely completion of development projects. He directed all administrative secretaries to ensure improvement in the performance of their respective departments, field monitoring, immediate redressal of public complaints, and complete implementation of government policies.
