Looting Medicines of the Poor Is Enmity Towards the People; Whose Interests Are Armed Organisations Striking At? Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rahman
Health Sector Cannot Be Sacrificed to Political Expediency, Corruption and Unrest; Hospitals Paralyzed for 3 Months

Quetta (Daily Quwat Quetta): Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan and Member of the Provincial Assembly Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rahman Baloch has said that for the past three months, the supply of medicines to hospitals in Rakhshan, Makran and Jhalawan divisions has been affected, while reports of vehicles carrying medicines from Quetta for poor patients being looted on the way are alarming.
In his statement, he said that looting the medicines provided for the treatment of poor people is unacceptable and condemnable. According to him, if armed organisations are looting medicine vehicles, then the question arises as to why the medicines allocated for the treatment of poor people are being targeted. He said that these medicines do not belong to any capitalist or influential person but are for the treatment of the poor people of Balochistan.
Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rahman Baloch said that affluent people can go to big cities or abroad for their treatment, but for the poor, government hospitals and the medicines available there are the main source of treatment. The people of Balochistan are already facing a shortage of proper medical facilities, therefore there is a need to activate health institutions and ensure the supply of medicines.
He said that looting the medicines of health institutions is in no way acceptable, and such anti-people actions cannot be supported. The continuous increase in the difficulties and obstacles of the poor is becoming a cause of further deterioration of the province’s conditions.
The provincial Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami urged national parties, genuine tribal elders, political leaders, the government and relevant institutions to take sincere and practical steps for peace, security and justice so that the protection of people’s lives, property and honour can be ensured.
He demanded that the government and relevant institutions ensure the safe delivery of medicines to hospitals and take immediate notice of incidents of looting medicine vehicles on the way. He said that millions of poor patients in the far-flung areas of Balochistan are already suffering from a lack of basic medical facilities, and in such a situation, obstacles in the supply of medicines are further adding to their difficulties.
Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rahman Baloch said that the health sector cannot be sacrificed to political expediency, corruption and unrest. The government should form an effective system for the uninterrupted supply, protection and transparent distribution of medicines in hospitals so that poor patients can get timely treatment facilities. He said that no kind of negligence should be tolerated in matters related to people’s lives and health.
